Sudurpaschim Royals have won by 45 runs in a one-sided match against Lumbini Lions while continuing their winning streak in Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket. Coming with a target of 188 runs, Sudurpaschim stopped Lumbini at a score of 142-9 in 20 overs and won by 45 runs.
This is the third win in a row for Far West. Surpassing Janakpur Bolts who have won three games in a row, Sudurpaschim has risen to the top spot. On the contrary, Lumbini, under the leadership of Rohit Poudel, the captain of the Nepali national cricket team, lost for the third consecutive match.
Lumbini could not handle after Scott Kuglen dismissed Arjun Saud LBW on the first ball of the innings at the Trivi Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. New Zealand's fast bowler also dismissed another oner Unmukt Chand LBW for 4 runs.
Another foreign bowler, Brandon McMullen of Scotland dismissed captain Rohit Paudele (5), Tom Moores (7) and Saad Bin Zafar (0), and Lumbini reached 19-5 within 5 overs. Sandeep Zora played 26 balls and scored 20 runs with 1 six. Dinesh Adhikari was dismissed for 14, Ramon Simmonds for zero and Surya Tamang for 7 runs.
Vivek Yadav scored 77 runs and remained unbeaten. He played 54 balls and hit 3 fours and 7 sixes. Saif Zaib and McMullen took 3 wickets each from Lumbini. Jaib spent 33 runs in 4 overs and McMullen 21 runs in 4 overs. Kuglen spent 19 runs in 4 overs and took 2 wickets and Avinash Bohra took 1 wicket.
Earlier, opener Zaib scored 90 runs even in the difficult conditions of the morning. Sudurpaschim lost the toss and came into bat.
English batsman Zaib hit 6 fours and 5 sixes in 61 balls. He got out in the 18th over and shared 49 runs in 6.3 overs with Vinod Bhandari for the first wicket, 57 runs in 43 balls with McMullane for the second wicket and 53 runs in 24 balls with captain Dipendra Singh Airi.
Vinod scored 17 from 13 balls with 2 fours, McMullen scored 23 runs from 20 balls with 1 four and six. Dipendra played 19 balls and hit 4 fours and 2 sixes and remained unbeaten on 39 runs. Arif Sheikh was dismissed on the first ball he faced. From Lumbini, Simmonds spent 32 runs in 4 overs and took 2 wickets and Rohit and Vivek took 1 each.
