Member of Parliament Even after the election, the interesting ways adopted by the candidates to seek votes are still visible on social media. While some candidates who adopted different and interesting campaigning styles have been elected, the defeated ones are also appearing on the network.

In this election, some candidates knelt down in the middle of the road to please the voters, while others did the same work that the voters were doing.

The candidates did not hesitate to do things like rolling bread, making jelly, working in the fields, and picking vegetables. Some even promised to reduce the price of gold and silver if they were elected. Some did not only ask for votes from the voters, but also asked for votes from roosters, goats, and dummies kept in shops.

Of those who tried to please the voters in this way, some won by a large margin over their competitors, while others lost by a very small margin.

The one who made you laugh before the election made you cry after the election

Rishi Dhamala

Journalist Rishi Dhamala was the Aam Janata Party candidate from Rautahat-4. The style he adopted while seeking votes had garnered attention on social media.

Just as the style of seeking votes was discussed all over social media, the social media was also filled with the votes he received. Dhamala's election symbol was a total of 655 votes on mobile phones. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Ganesh Poudel won from that constituency by getting 36,876 votes.

Despite getting a very different number of votes than expected, Dhamala congratulated the winning candidate and thanked the voters. He says, 'I express my gratitude to all the voters and supporters who loved, trusted and supported me in the election.'

Whatever the result, Dhamala said that his relationship with the people of the area will never end. He says, ‘I will always be among you. Listening to the voice of the people, understanding the problems and continuously working for development and positive change.’

Dhamala did various activities during his door-to-door campaign, such as making jerry cans, cutting and carrying sugarcane, driving a tractor, riding a bicycle, taking off the garland he was wearing and giving it to the workers, sometimes cutting wood while making a sakirim, making chatpat, sometimes hugging voters and crying, sometimes asking the sick to help raise money for their treatment.

Surya Thapa

It was not only the new candidates who adopted a different style to make the election campaign interesting. The old candidates also adopted this method.

Surya Thapa, the UML candidate from Pyuthan-1, was also known as a candidate who adopted a different style to seek votes. But he was defeated. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Sushant Vaidik was elected from the constituency by getting 27,469 votes. Vaidik's closest rival Dr. Govinda Raj Pokharel got 18,338 votes. Thapa got 16,710 votes.

Thapa was seen getting closer to voters, from helping them to install the roof of their houses to talking to the bricklayers and even rolling dry rotis. He was seen cutting vegetables, roasting corn and dancing to the rhythm of the voters to please them.

During the election campaign, he uploaded a garland covering his eyes on his Facebook ID. Which went viral. Even after the election results were out, people are mocking him with the same photo. Some are saying that he did not get any votes even though he wore a garland that was so invisible to the eyes.

Fuldev Thakur Hamaj

Another candidate seeking votes in a different style is Fuldev Thakur Hamaj, an independent candidate from Siraha-4. He had read out his manifesto while riding a horse during the election campaign. He had said, ‘I will make a square under the tree for the people to sit.’

‘I will reduce the price of gold and silver,’ he had said, ‘I will strictly monitor the country’s borders. I will increase the salaries of employees. I will take action against both those who take and give dowry from the Nepal government.’ Fuldev’s statement to reduce the price of gold and silver, and his door-to-door campaign on horseback were very popular.

Fuldev got a total of 27 votes in the election. Tapeshwor Yadav of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was elected from that constituency by getting 36,210 votes. A video of Fuldev crying after the election results is viral on social media. Some have even made fun of the video. Some have consoled him.

Achuttam Lamichhane

Achuttam Lamichhane, the RSSSP candidate from Nuwakot-2, is also among those who seek votes in a different and interesting style.

His campaigning style was also very different. Pun, who had filed his candidacy from Myagdi, had gone to villages and urged the voters to vote in a directive manner. He had also said that he would not promise to do this or that. He did not deceive anyone with flattery. In true style, those who wanted to vote would vote, and those who didn't want to vote would say no.

He would write statuses on Facebook in advance about the places he would go door-to-door. Sometimes he would request everyone to vote from the hills in a 'Katuwal' style, and sometimes he would dance on the steep path while going to campaign.

Pun, who adopted a different style, also received a large number of votes in the election. He was elected with 22,850 votes, while his rival Harikrishna Shrestha of UML received 7,919 votes.
