Sunil KC, the candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has won from Kathmandu-2. He won by getting 34,238 votes. He defeated Kabir Sharma of the Nepali Congress by 25,364 votes. Sharma got 8,874 votes. Elected as a member of the House of Representatives, he is a politician as well as a social activist and event manager. KC, who has made a name for himself through social work, has been active in politics recently.

KC had won from Kathmandu-2 (A) from the RPP in the 2079 election. He said that he became a candidate for the RPP after realizing the need to change his political thinking and priorities and work with the country and the people at the center. He said that he left the RPP because the RPP prioritizes serving the country and the people over party principles. He had expressed the view during the election campaign that only honest and capable people can come together and work in one place to form a stable government and provide easy services to the people.

With only 2 years left in his term in the provincial assembly, he left the post and started the political journey of a new party. Many have also interpreted this decision as a bold step. 43-year-old Sunil KC has formally studied up to Plus Two (Higher Secondary Level). Before entering politics, he was known as a social activist. He had taken various initiatives to solve the problems seen in society and had run social campaigns.

He was active in motivating the youth towards sports by joining a football club through the social youth club. His activism in social service was seen through relief and support programs during the Corona pandemic and earthquake.

Dhanesh Thapa, central member of the National Independent Party (RSWP), has said that he knows Sunil KC as a person who is active in social work. According to Thapa, a childhood friend, Sunil KC won the election because of his ability to easily solve local-level problems and his good popularity among the people.

Thapa recalled that he had previously been a candidate of the Bibeksheel Sajha Party from the same constituency and said that this time he supported his friend.

Similarly, about the reason for leaving the MP post from the RPP and joining the National Independent Party, he said, "The main reason is the closeness to Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah. Balendra Shah moved forward with a clear plan and thinking to solve the problems of the people, so he became close to KC."

Thapa said that although there was opposition from some party workers when he joined the RPP, the general public took it positively. According to him, he mentioned that he had embarked on a new political journey because it was a political step that the people preferred.
