Birendra Bahadur Basnet, the owner of Buddha Air and founder of the Dynamic Democratic Party, has announced that he is no longer affiliated with any political party. He said that in the coming days, he will focus on social service and nation building along with business.

In a statement released on Friday, Basnet said that he was deeply disturbed by the popular uprising that broke out across the country on Bhadra 23 and 24, 2082 BS and the martyrdom of 76 young people. According to him, those events were not just a coincidence but a powerful voice against corruption, unemployment, poverty, exploitation and injustice.

Basnet said that the uprising had raised hope that the country could take a new direction. Based on that belief, he joined the Dynamic Democratic Party with the goal of good governance, sustainable employment and equitable development and worked as a central member.

However, he said that he had decided to leave the party, saying that the current political culture did not match his values and spirit.

He said, "I realized that I could not make the contribution I wanted with my experience, ability and love for the country within the limits of my position and party."

He said that he would now serve the country and society as an independent and responsible citizen. In the coming days, he has expressed his plans to work in areas such as competent management of local and provincial governments, sustainable tourism, business-oriented agriculture and quality secondary education.

Basnet also wished all democratic political parties, including the Dynamic Democratic Party, to remain committed to their principles and agenda. Finally, he expressed his gratitude to the common people and expressed his hope for their support, cooperation and trust in the upcoming journey.
