In the House of Representatives election, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha of the National Independent Party has taken a lead of nearly 7,000 votes in Kathmandu Constituency No. 8. Shrestha received 7,617 votes out of 11,552 votes counted. His rival Sapana Rajbhandari of the Nepali Congress received 890 votes, while Suman Sayami of the UML received 847 votes. Similarly, Rajesh Shakya of the Nepali Congress received 544 votes.
