In Morang-6, candidates from three political parties have decided to withdraw from the direct competition and support Nepali Congress candidate Shekhar Koirala. With this decision, the election equation has become interesting.
Balaram Khawas of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, Raju Mandal of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, and Sudhram Majhi Tharu of the Janmat Party issued separate statements on Monday and decided to support Koirala directly. They stated that they have taken this step keeping in mind the democratic values and the current political context.
The candidates from the three parties have called on their workers and supporters to stand in favor of Koirala in the direct competition but vote for their own party in the proportional competition. Earlier, Ujjaj Nepal candidate Basanta Budhathoki had decided to support UML candidate Binod Dhakal in the same constituency.
