Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the period during which the Congress ruled the government from 2046 BS to 2051 BS will be considered a golden era.

In a question-and-answer session on the party's manifesto on Thursday, President Thapa said that the country's economic development has been based on that foundation until now. However, he said that the country's journey to prosperity should be determined through timely changes.

'The strong steps of economic reform were taken during the government run by the Congress from 046 to 051,' he said. 'Because of that, the Congress had to be continuously chased by its friends from the Communist Party for a long time.  We were continuously chased. We could not explain our public policies to the citizens, which was our weakness. However, if we look at the story of everything that has happened in Nepal even today, it has come on the foundation of the plans that were started at that time.'   

He recalled the dreams that leaders had for 30 years during the party's establishment. 'At that time, Jannayak BP Koirala dreamed that every Nepali should be of the middle class like me,' President Thapa said. 'Today, we are proud of the achievements we made yesterday. We will make our historical values ​​​​even brighter.’

He says that on that difficult day in 2033 BS, leaders came to Nepal to protect their nationality with 7 life cases in their hands. President Thapa said, ‘We remember our days of struggle. In the 30-year Panchayat Kalratri, our leadership did not look back at power even once. We will move forward remembering those days.’
