The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has urged the Election Commission to strictly implement the election code of conduct. In a press conference on Tuesday, the NCP urged the Commission to take serious action against incidents of code of conduct violations.
‘Serious attention has been drawn to the incidents of violation of the election code of conduct. Some limited media outlets are continuously trying to devalue our party by spreading misleading and false information contrary to the minimum standards of journalism and the journalistic code of conduct. Our party strongly objects to such activities,’ said Agni Sapkota, the NCP’s election campaign coordinator. ‘We urge the Election Commission to strictly implement the code of conduct. In addition, we appeal to the Press Council to monitor the code of conduct impartially.’
The NCP has also accused the forces that want to disrupt the election of being active. ‘The forces that want to disrupt the election are still active. The Election Commission should play an effective role in ensuring that the election is held in a clean, fair and fear-free environment. "We believe that the commission will play its role as in the past," Sapkota said, "We urge the voters to stand in favor of stability and prosperity."
'NCP will be the first party'
NCP leader Agnaprisad Sapkota has claimed that his party will be the first in the upcoming parliamentary elections. At a press conference organized on Tuesday, he said that the basis for becoming the first party has been prepared as encouraging reports have come from across the country. "We discussed the reports that have come. A report has come that we will be the first party in the elections," he said.
