With the entry of new and young candidates for the House of Representatives on Falgun 21, there is an electoral competition between well-known and old leaders in Dang-1. Along with young candidates, the former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, former federal ministers, former MPs, and people who have been candidates in previous parliamentary elections are also competing in this area.

Despite the question of youth participation in politics after the Gen-G movement, most of the main competitors in Dang-1 are over 50 years of age. Out of the 14 candidates in this constituency, only 3 are under 40 years of age. Prakash Shahi of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN (Maoist), Ranjit Chaudhary of the Rastriya Parivartan Party is 32 years old and Binay BC of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party is 32 years old.

Judging by the results of past elections, the main competition is between the Congress, UML, CPN and the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party. Joint General Secretary Yogendra Chaudhary is in the fray from the Congress. He turned 51. Chaudhary became a member of the Constituent Assembly in 2070 from the then Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Loktantrik led by Vijay Kumar Gachhadar. In the 2064 Constituent Assembly member election, he was a candidate from the Federal Democratic National Forum (Tharuhat) and received 2,769 votes.

Chaudhary was elected as a central member after the Forum merged with the Nepali Congress in 2074. Chaudhary, close to Sher Bahadur Deuba, recently became the joint general secretary by participating in the special general convention led by Gagan Thapa. Since he has not had the opportunity to be elected directly so far, this has become a testing time for him.

Rewatiraman Sharma Ghimire, a member of the UML Central Accounts Commission, is 68 years old. Ghimire has experience of winning and losing in elections. He has been elected in two elections and defeated twice. He is participating in the elections for the fifth time. He was elected as the Chailahi VDC chairman in 2054 and a provincial assembly member in 2074. In 2074, he was elected as the Lumbini provincial assembly member from Dang 1 (2) with 19,354 votes. He was the district secretary of UML from 2059 to 2062 BS.

He was also a candidate for the Constituent Assembly from Dang-1 in 2064 and 2070. In 2064, he was defeated by Indrajit Tharu of the Maoists and Parvati DC Chaudhary of the Congress in 2070. This time, there are candidates from all parties and since the main competitor Metmani Chaudhary is being troubled by Yogendra Chaudhary of the Congress and rebel candidate Kul Prasad KC, it seems that he will be in a tough competition if he can save the UML votes.

Metmani Chaudhary is in the fray from the NCP. This is his third election journey. He has been elected twice from this constituency before. In the 2079 election, Chaudhary won by contesting from an alliance including the Congress and the Maoist Center and securing 26,576 votes. In 2074, he was elected from the same constituency from the then UML by securing 37,908 votes.

After the UML split, Madhav Kumar Nepal joined the Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist Party) and became the Minister of Urban Development. This time, he has been challenged by Tharu community candidates and rebel candidates. The challenge has increased as Congress's Chaudhary divided the Tharu community's votes and former Lumbini Province Chief Minister KC became a rebel candidate. NCP leader KC has filed an independent candidacy after not getting a ticket from the party. It seems that he can influence the votes of voters who migrated from the former Maoist Center and Rolpa to Deukhuri area.

KC was elected as a provincial MP in Rolpa 1 (1) from the Maoist Center in 2074 with 18,512 votes and became the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province. KC became the second Chief Minister after UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, who was the founding Chief Minister, fell into a minority. Pokharel was the Chief Minister from 2074 Falgun 3 to 27 Shrawan 2078. KC was the Chief Minister from 28th Shrawan 2078 to 27th Paush 2079.

Devraj Pathak is also in the fray from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). 60-year-old Pathak is contesting for the second time. In the 2079 election, he had won 13,798 votes from the RSSS in Dang-1.

Similarly, in Dang-1, Ganesh Prasad Acharya from the Rastriya Janamorcha, Khum Bahadur Gaha Magar from the Mongol National Organization, Min Bahadur Thedi Magar from the National Republican Nepal, Bharat Lal Chaudhary from the Janata Samajwadi Party, Sitaram Yadav from the Aam Janata Party and Swatantra Malik Ram Yadav are also in the fray.
