A controversy has erupted within the National Independent Party in Lalitpur Constituency No. 2 after it nominated Jagdish Kharel, who resigned as Minister of Communications and Information Technology, as a candidate.
The RSVP leaders and workers of the constituency are dissatisfied, saying that Kharel should not be made a candidate in Lalitpur 2.
RSVP Lalitpur District President Buddharatna Maharjan is trying to become a candidate from Lalitpur 2. A leader of the RSVP Lalitpur informed that the party asked him to become a candidate from Lalitpur 1. However, he wants to become a candidate from Lalitpur 2, where he contested in the 2079 elections. Buddharatna, who became a competitor in the 2079 elections, had secured 8,666 votes. UML's Prem Bahadur Maharjan was elected from this constituency with 15,025 votes. Maharjan of the RSVP came third.
Kharel is trying to join the RSVP only on Tuesday.
