Earlier, Poudel, who had become an independent candidate for the Pokhara Metropolitan Mayor through the 2079 Lauro campaign, had joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) along with former Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayor Balendra Shah.
After getting the ticket, Poudel, a central member of the RSS, said that being selected as a candidate from Kaski-1 was not only a personal achievement but also a heavy burden of trust and responsibility.
He had been close to Balendra and had been supporting him lately. 'Musa Manus', translated by Poudel, the author of the novel 'Paitala', has been published. He from Pokhara-14 had contested the election for the Metropolitan Mayor with the Lauro election symbol and got 3,030 votes.
UML's Man Bahadur Gurung had previously won the election in Kaski-1. In the upcoming election, UML has fielded Kaski Chairman Bain Bahadur Adhikari Chhetri as its candidate. Central member Rajkaji Gurung is contesting the election from the NCP.
In Kaski-2, the RSS has fielded Uttam Prasad Poudel as its candidate, while in Kaski-3, the decision has yet to be made.
