Gagan Thapa, who was elected as the President of the Nepali Congress from the Special General Convention, has said that he formally registered a petition with the Election Commission to dissolve the Central Working Committee, which has Sher Bahadur Deuba as the President and himself as the General Secretary, on the first day of the closed session of the Special General Convention.

In a conversation with Kantipur on Thursday night, he said, 'The Election Commission knows and understands the special general convention held at Bhrikutimandap for the Nepali Congress Party.'

He also expressed his opinion about the disciplinary action taken by the Deuba faction. He said that the Central Working Committee had been dissolved during the special general convention itself, and said, 'The non-existent Central Working Committee will take action against us and we cannot have to suffer that.'

Thapa also said that the Commission can make a decision within a very short time by considering the prevailing laws, elections, party-related laws, and the party's statute. He also expressed confidence that those who did not attend the special general convention would accept the decision of the Commission and that the party would move forward as one.

Since the 'documents' with the signature of Sher Bahadur Deuba, who was elected as the president from the then general convention, are in the Election Commission, When asked what strong 'documents' you have to 'replace' it, he said that the special general convention was legal and that the Election Commission would update it legally. He said, 'It is to accept what is legal without doing any additional 'favors'. After updating the new committee of the party, the Nepali Congress will come together and function properly. It is said that there are two committees on the basis that one convention is being held, and on the other hand, the party decided. There cannot be two. Should we be right, or should those who sit in Sanepa and make decisions be right? It is more like a statutory requirement than our claim. Our clear understanding is that the general convention is the official one. So you are confident that the decision will be made in your favor.'
