The agenda presented by Acting President Khadka in the meeting mentions holding a general convention in Kathmandu on 28-31 Baisakh 2083 BS. But the two general secretaries are not ready to accept Khadka's proposal. They are insisting on participating in the elections with new leadership.
After the party's two general secretaries, Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma, prepared to call a special general convention on 27-29 Poush, factional disputes have flared up within the party. Under pressure from the two general secretaries, the party had brought the agenda for the regular general convention on 26-29 Poush. However, since the issue of active membership across the country could not be resolved, the regular general convention will not be held.
Since the regular session will not be held, the general secretaries are preparing to call a special general convention as per the statute. Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and establishment leaders are not ready to accept a special general convention.
