Where was the agreement to unite Ravi-Balen made?

What you should know

A seven-point agreement was reached between Rastriya Swatantra Party President Ravi Lamichhane and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) on Sunday morning. According to the agreement, Balen will become the prime ministerial candidate of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, while Ravi Lamichhane will lead the party.

This agreement was reached at the office of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders and former MPs Asim Shah and Asif Shah at Kamalpokhari. The leaders of the RSS and Balen who participated in the discussion reached the agreement after continuous discussions from Saturday evening to 4:15 am on Sunday. Leaders from both sides who participated in the discussion informed that Shah's office was chosen as the venue for the meeting.

Former MP Asim and his brother Asif have an office in Kamalpokhari for film production, song videos, etc. Ravi and Balen had made the same office the venue for the meeting. Balen had been in talks with Minister Kulman Ghising since Saturday morning. After meeting Balen, Ghising had called a meeting of the central committee of the Ujjaj Nepal Party.

There, the proposal made by Ravi and Balen on how to proceed in future politics was discussed. The central committee of Ujjaj Nepal had rejected the proposal that Rabi Lamichhane be the party president and Balen be the next prime minister. Even after the central committee meeting, Balen had met Ghising at a house in Baluwatar.

After an agreement could not be reached there, Balen had reached Asim Shah's office. Leaders including Lamichhane were present there. When the 7-point agreement was signed between Ravi and Balen, both RSP Vice Presidents DP Aryal and Swarnim Wagle were present. Apart from that, leader Asim Shah was also involved.

On behalf of Balen, Kumar Ben, Bhupdev Shah, Sudip Dhakal, KP Khanal, Nischal Basnet and others were present. The talks between RSP President Lamichhane and Balen took place from 7 pm last Monday to 1:30 am on Tuesday at the residence of former RSP MP Asim Shah in Kamalpokhari. The vehicle in which Ravi and Balen were travelling that day was driven by RSP Vice President DP Aryal.

Meanwhile, Ravi and Balen also held discussions at the house of Balen's aide Kumar Ben in Jwalgasthi, Lalitpur. After the discussion, the issue of needing a new place for the talks was raised. After that, the office of Asim Shah, who worked with Balen and is also a leader from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), was made the venue for the talks.
