According to Rajendra Gautam, head of the UML Central Publicity and Publication Department, the selection of representatives is ongoing according to the arrangement of the Central Secretariat meeting on Kartik 15, taking the House of Representatives constituency as the basis, with two open and one female representative for every 1,200 organized members.
It has been decided to select at least 5 people, including 2 women, from the Pravasi Nepali Association India and Pravasi Nepali Association International Committees, like the provincial committees. The method has been amended to select youth under the age of 40 within 1,200, like the geographical district committees, in the Valley Special and Contact Coordination Committees. Earlier, there was a provision to select representatives only from the constituency.
UML Publicity Department Chief Gautam said that the total number of general convention representatives will be 2,200.
The schedule for selecting representatives is till Sunday. As there is a competition between Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Senior Vice President Ishwor Pokharel for the leadership selection, both parties are doing their homework.
