The election process has begun at various district levels to select representatives for the upcoming 11th National Convention of the UML.
Since the representatives have to be selected across the country on the same day on Mangsir 13, the process of publishing the voter list and filing candidacies has begun. Representatives have been selected unanimously and unopposed in some districts.
Kashinath Adhikari, a member of the party's standing committee and head of the organization department, said that work is being done as per the directive to publish the final voter list of the relevant constituency before entering the election process for selecting representatives.
The department had also directed the Central Organization Department to immediately inform it of the number of the final voter list (renewed party membership list) that has been established.
Similarly, the UML has instructed to make a final effort to reach consensus by the evening of Mangsir 12 and, if not, to go through the election process on Mangsir 13 and select representatives. The names of the selected representatives should be submitted to the department by Mangsir 15.
Around 2,200 representatives from the organizers, election regional committees (open), public organizations, youth, Dalits, women, and migrant sectors are participating in the UML general convention to be held in Kathmandu from November 10 to 12.
