What is the justification for student organizations? This question has arisen at this time. It is impossible not to question the justification for student organizations that failed to even express solidarity with the students who lost their lives or were injured in the Gen-G movement on 23 and 24 Bhadra.

Student organizations have become agitated now after the government announced to abolish student organizations through a 100-point list. However, the debate about whether student organizations should be abolished is not today, but has been arising at various times.

Student organizations, which have a dark history, are currently in the shadows. Political parties have made their student organizations puppets, due to which today these organizations are moving with political agendas rather than student agendas. Therefore, neither student organizations nor stakeholders have been able to identify the leakage seen in the educational sector. After the SBU won the elections, it is natural for student organizations that operate under the orders of the party rather than the rights and interests of students to question its justification.

How many Dalit students studying in campuses under the university are under oppression?  Are there sanitary pads and emergency health services for female students during menstruation? How many students have dropped out of school due to financial difficulties? These questions do not seem to be the domain of any student organization .

In this situation where the world market is enjoying modernization and digitalization, we still have to wait months to get our exam results. No voice has been heard against opening private campuses and taking salaries and allowances from the university coffers and commercializing higher education. No organization seems to be interested in the issue of the educational standard declining day by day due to the negligence of teachers. 

Since student organizations are affiliated with political parties, they only advocate for those political issues - academic debates, university reforms, regularization of teaching and learning, etc. There is very little debate from student organizations. It is not fair to keep quiet when your party is in power and to find justification for a student organization by agitating saying, "We want your government to be accountable" when another party is in power. 

The reputation of student organizations has been diminished by unnecessary pressure on the administration, coercion, and strikes in the name of the organization. The behavior of locking and vandalizing educational institutions in an anarchic manner by denying ideological discussions cannot be morally supported. It is important to understand that it is the responsibility of student organizations to provide a peaceful and safe study environment for all students within the university.

Today's student leaders seem to be more focused on herd mentality, slogans, and power displays than on raising intellectual standards, contributing to policy formulation, and developing organizational capacity. Therefore, student organizations should practice institutional reform, quality education, and responsible leadership. Today's student leadership should be conscious, politically clear, and committed to student welfare.

The student class is considered the pillar of the country and society. Therefore, they should advocate against the injustices and bad customs of society. Society becomes multidimensional. From here, various languages, cultures, and traditions are born, which can not only have a positive impact on society. Sometimes, it can also increase inequality, which the general public and student organizations should be vigilant against.

It seems necessary for the student organization, which is gradually fading from the eyes of the students, to raise its voice against the country's education system, fraud, corruption, and sluggish administration in the name of scholarships on campus. The way forward is to take strong revenge on the country's political, economic, and social reforms, political instability, leadership, nepotism, and favoritism. 

If economically disadvantaged students can be positively advocated in areas such as scholarships, library reform, transportation services, and housing facilities, the lost trust can be regained. If the system of the university chancellor being the Prime Minister is abolished, direct politicization can be reduced.

It is not that student organizations are not justified. It gives students an opportunity to develop leadership and hold policy debates. Student organizations should be able to make independent decisions. Not being able to play a role as an autonomous organization is also a problem for student organizations. Based on principles, even if they are close to any political party, the nature of the student organization should be like that of an autonomous organization. 

The student group is the young generation. The young generation does not like the current situation in the country. That is why they choose foreign universities, and even if they are not chosen, how can they? The education situation here is very critical. There does not seem to be any policy or regulation linking education with employment. The student organization led by the same age cannot create any voice or pressure for the painful story of the young generation struggling to feed themselves even with the degrees they have earned over the years. Instead, they start abusing their party while it is in the opposition.

It seems that the campus administration should be held accountable by looking at these needs. It is not only about finding accountability for the campus administration, but also to make oneself accountable to keep one's own justification alive. It seems that the elected officials have made decisions by dedicating themselves only to the personal as well as the political sphere. Such actions cannot properly address the problems among students. 

The debate on whether to keep or dissolve student organizations is currently escalating. We are living in a democracy. In a democracy, the right to organize must be ensured. Such organizations are needed to increase political awareness among general students, which will produce capable and responsible leadership in the future. If the practice of questioning the government is increased to hold it accountable, the political parties in power can also be honest and loyal to the citizens and the country. Therefore, student organizations should be made a place for students to express their democratic views.

Student organizations should not be made only advocates for the educational and political sectors. Student organizations of the future should advocate for the reform of the democratic system of the entire country, human rights, and civil society. If general political parties operate student organizations as a pawn, the future of student organizations will not be student-friendly and will be limited to the protection of political parties.
