Question from former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal: What did my wife do wrong by being a physics professor for forty years? If she had not done anything for any brokers, criminals, or foreigners, then why was there such an attack?

Former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal's wife, Ravilaxmi Chitrakar, who was severely injured in a fire at her house in Dallu, Kathmandu on Bhadra 24, has demanded action against the culprits.
In her statement to the Commission of Inquiry on Bhadra 23 and 24, she narrated the tragedy of the incident. 'On Bhadra 24, when stones were being thrown at the house, I did not know who came, we were sitting in a place where stones were not thrown. They must have come, I could not scream and fainted. My hand burned and I fainted because I could not breathe,' her statement is included in the commission's report, 'It must have taken the police brothers about an hour to find me. According to eyewitnesses, a Nepal Police Sub-Inspector Santosh Rupakheti, Saroj Khadka and Bimal Pant of the Armed Forces searched for me and found me. Even now, my body is burning and I cannot do my work myself. The right hand does not work properly.'
She said that the government should be vigilant to bring the culprit to justice. 'Why has the government not been able to arrest the criminal while he is walking fearlessly?' she asked. Her left hand has been amputated due to deep burns. She is still undergoing treatment.
Khanal mentioned in his statement to the commission that although he was rescued by the Nepali Army, his wife was injured. He said that the house burned down within 45 minutes of his rescue. 'In the space of 45 minutes, my house and car were burned down. My family members went up from the third floor and cried and pleaded, but no one cared. In the meantime, when I called my son Nirvik, he said, "Oh, they burned us" and the phone went off,' Khanal said in the report. 'My wife has already fainted.' The trachea was burned all the way down. She could not speak for two and a half months. The upper part was not burned because she was lying down when her wife fainted. My madam's left hand was burned to the fourth degree, she was not even injured by the current so-called government.'
Khanal also expressed his anger over the lack of action against the culprit. 'After the police brothers took a ladder from the neighbor's roof to the third floor of my house and rescued my son and 1 policeman, the police finally found my wife lying down for the fifth time and carried her away. From here, they put her on the ladder and dragged her to another house,' he said. 'Shouldn't this government arrest and take action against the executioners who did not let her be saved even when they tried to take her to the hospital in a neighbor's car? What was the reason for trying to kill my madam?'
Khanal questioned the painter, asking what she had done wrong in her forty years as a physics professor. "If she had not done anything for any brokering, criminals or foreigners during this time, why did such an attack happen?" Khanal asks.
