The Federation of Nepali Journalists has organized an orientation program to make election reporting factual, balanced, and credible.

In the program organized on Friday, the Federation has given clear guidance to journalists on effective adherence to the code of conduct, responsible news reporting and professional dignity.

At the program, Election Commission Commissioner Janaki Tuladhar said that the commission is committed to moving forward in cooperation rather than controlling the press. She stated that the role of journalists during the election is very sensitive and important and urged them to disseminate true, verified and balanced news.

'Only independent and responsible journalism can strengthen a fair and impartial election,' Commissioner Tuladhar said.

Federation of Nepali Journalists President Nirmala Sharma expressed her belief that such a program organized before the election will increase the confidence of journalists and bring clarity on what to do and what not to do. She urged all stakeholders to help journalists collect information and disseminate news in a fearless environment.

Federation of Nepali Journalists Secretary Prakash Dhaulakoti informed that an orientation program on the election code of conduct has been conducted for journalists working in the Valley. He also said that such programs will be expanded to all seven provinces from Saturday.

The media personnel participating in the program had expressed their commitment to conduct credible journalism by fully adhering to impartiality, professionalism, and the code of conduct during the election.
