Vehicles start plying on Simara, Pathlaiya-Birgunj section, returning to normal

Simara, Bara, which had been in turmoil since Wednesday, has started returning to normalcy since Thursday evening. Gen-G youths had been protesting since Wednesday, alleging that UML workers had beaten them up.

Youths demonstrated despite the curfew on Thursday. There was a clash between the police and the Gen-G protesters on Thursday afternoon. According to the District Administration Office, Bara, vehicles are now plying on the Pathlaiya-Birgunj section. Vehicles have started plying after the Gen-G protesters cleared the road. Manish Sapkota, spokesperson for the Gen-G Jitpur Simara Municipal Committee, also said that they stopped the demonstration from 4 pm.

Did not go to the talks called by the Pradya District Magistrate

Pradya District Magistrate Dharmendra Kumar Mishra did not go to the talks even though he called the youth protesting in Simara. The protesters are adamant that they will not go to the talks because the accused have not been arrested. Manish Sapkota, spokesperson for the Gen-G Jitpur Simara Municipal Committee, said that they will not go to the talks until Arbind Sah and Arif Khan of Simara, a youth association close to the UML, are arrested.

He said that they are positive for the talks. 'We will not go to the talks until the main person who beat us is arrested,' he said, 'If arrested, we will probably go to the talks after 10 am on Friday.' We have stopped the demonstration since 4:30 pm.'
