The Syafrubensi-Rasuwagadhi road has been blocked for a week due to the second flood in Bhotekoshi on 14 July. Floods have washed away roads in more than half a dozen places. According to the road department, it will take more than a week for the road to be operational.

Kaisang Nurpu Tamang, head of Gosaikund Rural Municipality, said that since the ambulance could not reach Timure and Rasuwagadhi when the road connection was broken, they had to rely on helicopters when someone fell ill. "Roads are being built in the morning but they are being washed away by floods in the evening," he said.

After the flood damage of last 24 June, the road was brought into operation so that food can be delivered to the village and the stopped vehicles could cross, but the flood again washed away the road. It is 16 km from Syafrubansi to Rasuwagadhi. Khadglal Shrestha, Head of Road Planning Office, said that the road was washed away during cutting by Bhotekoshi. "The machine used to open the road near Timure could not be removed due to the landslide," he said.

"The entire road has been washed away in Kuling, Chhendung, Tatopani, Timure, Ghattekhola and Rasuwagadhi," said Shrestha. "We have opened the track towards Timure three/four times, but the flood is flowing, it is not possible to go there due to landslides near Timure," he said. "The work of opening the road track is going on," he said, "if it cannot be done by machine, we have to use explosives, for that we have already informed the chief district officer of Rasuwa."

The bridge connecting the border is being constructed

Kaisang Nurpu Tamang, the head of Gosaikund Rural Municipality, said that China has started the work of the Belybridge to connect the Lhende River. According to him, a temporary belay bridge is going to be built about 50 meters above the flooded bridge. Foundation work has been started for that. "We have received information that the bridge will be built ten years ago," he said. Tamang informed that preparations are being made to build a permanent bridge at the place that was washed away by the flood on June 24.

Director General of Customs Department Mahesh Bhattarai said that since the Rasuwagadhi crossing was closed after the flood, the work is being done for its operation. "The construction of the bridge connecting the canal will be completed by the middle of October," he said, "The road is being constructed in the places damaged by floods and landslides." Chief Customs Officer of the Rasuwa Customs Office, Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai, said that the Rasuwa customs post is deserted after the June floods.

"The two weighing bridges (Dharmakanta) that measure the weight of cargo vehicles leaving and entering the customs yard have been swept away by the floods, one on June 24 and the other on July 14," he said, "The road leading to vehicles out of the yard has also been washed away, and 10 containers and trucks have been trapped there, and the engine of the vehicles has also been damaged." 11 electric vehicles are also in the yard after being damaged by the flood. According to him, those vehicles are not in working condition. He said that there was no crane to pull it out.  Looking for an alternative to the

yard

Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee Executive Director Ashish Gajurel said that a study has been started to find an alternative to the customs yard in Timure. "The study has been completed by deputing an engineer team to find out where the yard can be built, and the study report will come within 10 days," he said. The yard was built in the river, so it was swept away by the flood.  He also said that the place where the

is happening now is not suitable from the Chinese side. "The yard was built by China. According to the Chinese side, the flood has caused a damage of around one billion rupees," he said, "The yard has been completely damaged, the administrative building has been protected from the flood because it is on a hill." The construction of the yard was started two years ago in about 58 plantations with a subsidy of 2.16 billion rupees from the Chinese government. The flood swept away when the construction was in its final stages. The Rasuwa Customs Office said that the flood that occurred on July 14 also washed away more physical structures of the yard.
