The government has formed a new recommendation committee under the coordination of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel for the selection of the governor.
Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal informed that the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Wednesday decided to abolish the previous recommendation committee and form a new committee.
According to him, the old committee was abolished and a new one was formed on the proposal of Finance Minister Paudel. Mahaprasad Adhikari from the former governor and Poshraj Pandey are among the expert members in the new committee formed under the coordination of Finance Minister Paudel.
Pandey came to the post after the resignation of the previous expert member of the committee, Vishwa Paudel. According to the provisions of the Act on Banks and Financial Institutions (Bafia) Earlier on March 11, the government formed the Governor's Recommendation Committee.
Former governor Vijayanath Bhattarai, a member of the original committee, resigned saying that the meeting was not held for a month and the committee had no role in the selection of the governor. After that, the government appointed outgoing governor Mahaprasad Adhikari as a member in his place.
It is said that Congress and UML have agreed to make Vishwa Poudel the governor. That is why Poudel has resigned from the committee. After his resignation, there was a discussion about appointing an expert member in the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.
However, Chief Secretary Aryal said that after the finance minister asked to abolish the old committee and form a new one, it was done accordingly. After the formation of the committee, the government (Ministry of Finance) has to send a letter to all the members again. According to
