Indo-Pak War Impact: India increases military activity in 'Chicken Neck'

As the war with Pakistan escalated, the Indian security apparatus increased its military security activities in the ``chicken neck'' region, which is considered sensitive from a strategic point of view.  Siliguri, the second largest city in West Bengal, is a 'transit' point connecting Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.

It is from here that India's strategic importance is sensitive  The region also joins the Northeast. Siliguri is also known as the 'Gateway of North East'.

India has been doing 'ID verification' in the Kakdbhita-Panitanki area of Nepal's eastern border since the Covid epidemic. After India-Pakistan tension, more security vigilance has been increased at the eastern border, according to the Indian security official.

Military activity has increased in various states of Northeast India after Delhi's order. India has tightened security especially in the border areas with Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and China.

According to the report of the Indian Intelligence Department, Delhi has increased military activity by assessing the possibility of simultaneous violent activities in those areas. After the army the Border Security Force (BSF), Rapid Action Force (RAF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Reserve Police Force  (CRPF)  And the local police have also been asked to be 'alert'.

A few weeks ago, the attack on the Indian soldiers on the Kashmir border and the cross-border attack by India in response to it, the tension between the two neighboring countries has increased again. Islamabad termed the Indian action as 'incitement to war', while Delhi called it 'defence against terrorism'.

The international community is urging both countries to exercise restraint. The shadow of the conflict is now not only in the whole of India, but also in the border areas. Special vigilance has been adopted on those routes after receiving information that the intelligence department is making a strategy to enter India through Myanmar and Bangladesh and arms and militants. The security of the border area with Bangladesh, which is considered weak in terms of security, has been tightened.

"Bangladesh's border seems to be almost closed", an Indian media wrote, "More security forces have been mobilized in areas where there is no barbed wire". Round-the-clock monitoring through drones has been started.'

It seems that India is planning to establish more than forty military camps permanently and temporarily in the 'chicken neck' area. The shadow of India-Pakistan tension has fallen not only on Northeast India and its neighboring countries, but also on dependent countries like Nepal. Especially the businessmen of eastern Nepal and the businessmen of the industrial sector are worried .

Rajendra Raut, President of Nepal Industry and Commerce Association Koshi, says, "Our commercial dependence with India is high . Due to the war, there may be tension, tension or closure in the border area . Which is likely to have a big impact on business.'
