Cooperative Fraud: Accounts Committee Chairman's wife released on bail of 10 lakhs

Anjala Koirala, the wife of Accounts Committee chairman Rishikesh Pokhareli, who was accused of co-operative fraud, has been released after paying bail in court. On Wednesday, the bench of Judge Uddhav Prasad Bhattarai of District Court Morang ordered Koirala to be released on bail.

According to Hem Bahadur Budhathoki, Information Officer of District Court Morang, a bail of 10 lakh rupees has been demanded from Koirala.

Koirala, who was involved in the fraud case of Umagouri cooperative society located in Dhanpalthan-3 of Morang, appeared in the district court on Wednesday. On the 27th of November last, District Public Prosecutor's Office Morang filed a case against the defendants including Anjala in the case of embezzlement of about 22 million rupees of the cooperative. After filing the case, Koirala, who was a teacher of Biratnagar's Mahendra Ratri School, was absconding.

A case has been filed against 26 people including chairman Shyam Kumar Rauniyar in this cooperative fraud case. So far, one person is in custody and one person has been released on bail. The remaining 23 defendants are still absconding.
