34 people, including Janmat Party President Chandrakant (CK) Raut, former Irrigation Minister Umesh Kumar Yadav, former Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh, have registered their candidacies in Saptari Constituency No. 2. Former Irrigation Minister Yadav has filed his candidacy from the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, while former Chief Minister Singh has filed his candidacy from the Swabhiman Party. Raut, who filed his candidacy again from the same constituency, was elected in the 2079 election by getting 35,032 votes. Singh was elected from the Janmat Party in the 2079 election by getting 16,434 votes in 2(A). A few days ago, he resigned from the Janmat Party and the Provincial Assembly.
Former Irrigation Minister Yadav, who was elected from Saptari-3 in the 2070 BS Constituent Assembly elections, contested the 2074 BS elections against JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav. He contested the elections from the then CPN-Maoist Center and Yadav got 11,579 votes while Upendra got 21,620 votes.
Ram Kumar Yadav has filed his candidacy from the Nepali Congress. He is the vice-chairman of the party's district working committee. Ramji Yadav, a young candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP), has filed his candidacy. An engineer by profession, he is the son-in-law of former mayor of Rajbiraj Municipality, Shambhu Yadav.
Md. Ziaul Rahman from CPN-UML, Suryanath Yadav from the Communist Party of Nepal, Anish Ansari from the National Liberation Party Nepal, Deepak Chaudhary from the Ujjaya Nepal Party, Ranju Kumari Jha (Thakur) from the Nepal Janata Party, Tribhuvan Khang from the Shram Sanskriti Party, Ajay Kumar Das from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Neelam Kumari Yadav from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, and 20 others from political parties and 14 independents have filed their candidacies.
