The counting of votes for the by-election for the post of ward president of Musikot Municipality-1 of Gulmi has started. Ward no. Election officer Rishiram Ghimire said that the counting of votes has started in the office of 1 Paudi Amarai.

57.05 percent votes were cast in the by-election of the ward president of Musikot-1. Ghimire said that there were 4 thousand 91 voters in that ward and 2 thousand 334 votes were cast in the by-election held on Sunday.

Eight candidates are in the electoral competition for the post of Ward President. Anand Shrestha of Nepali Congress, Dal Bahadur Thapa of CPN-UML, Durga Bahadur Bik of Maoist Center and Bikas Thapa of National Independent Party (RASWPA), Ishwari Khati of RPP and Pomanand Kharel, Kul Bahadur Thapa and Yogendra Kharel of Independent Party have been contesting for vacant ward president. CPN (Unified Socialists) supported the Maoist candidate Bik . 

Congress had earlier won the ward president in that ward. After the death of elected Ward President Mohan Ghimire on 2nd August 2080, a by-election was held for the vacant post. Election officer Ghimire said that the results of the counting of votes will be announced today.
