The Maoist candidate has been unanimously elected to the post of Ward President in Puthauttarganga Rural Municipality of Rukum East. Candidates from the Congress-UML alliance and the Maoist Center are in the election field for the post of Municipal Vice President.

The Maoists have nominated Narpura Budha, sister of late Vice President Bhupendra Budha. UML has nominated District Deputy Secretary Kesh Kumari Tulachan with the support of Congress on the Congress symbol. After four independents, including the United Socialists, withdrew their candidature, the competition was only between Budha and Tulachan.

After UML candidate Jeevan Roka and independent candidate Sukraj Wick withdrew their candidature for the chairmanship of Ward 2, Jagat Gharti of the Maoist Center was unanimously elected. District coordinator Kumari Baral said that the Maoists have mobilized district level leaders-activists with former ministers Ganeshman Pun, Kamala Roka, Daljit Sirpali under the leadership of Member of the House of Representatives Purna Gharti for the election of the vice president of the municipality.

UML politburo member and Rukum East district in-charge Khemman Khadka said that the Congress-UML team is also meeting in different wards and settlements. In the joint election campaign of UML-Congress, along with Khadka of UML, leader Nandalal Sharma, district president Leelamani Gautam and others are present, while on behalf of Congress, leaders-activists are deployed under the leadership of district president Kesharman Roka.
