Snowfall has been occurring in the area above Tengboche in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality since Tuesday morning.
Snowfall has fallen in Khumbu, the upper region of Solukhumbu, home to the world's highest peak, Mount Everest. Snowfall has started in Khumbu since yesterday evening as the weather has changed. Snowfall has been occurring in the area above Tengboche in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality since Tuesday morning.
Tourism has been affected due to snowfall in the Khumbu region. Tourists who have reached the area on a tour of the Everest region have been stranded inside hotels. Domestic and foreign tourists have stayed in safe places inside hotels due to snowfall. It has been raining in Namche Bazaar since yesterday.
Lama Kaji Sherpa, chairman of the Everest Pollution Control Committee, said that there is snowfall in Tengboche, Labuche and Sagarmatha base camps. Currently, around 900 foreign tourists are visiting the upper region. Tourists who came to visit in the latter half of the autumn season have been affected due to snowfall.
Local Pasang Sherpa said that the snowfall in the upper region has affected the tourism industry and everyone, both humans and animals. Meteorologist David Dhakal said that snowfall will occur in the Khumbu region only today and the weather will remain clear for the next 2 days. Meteorologist Dhakal said that there is a possibility of snowfall again after 3 days.
