Rock climbing can be enjoyed at Majhuwabhir in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality. After the successful trial of rock climbing in Majhuwabhir, a historical, religious and tourist place in Majhuwagadhi region, the door of opportunity has opened for those who want to enjoy it.
Municipality chief Tirtharaj Bhattarai said that the rock climbing operation was started with the aim of promoting sports and tourism. Bhattarai says that after the operation of rock climbing, it will also help in the promotion of tourism in the city. Nepal National Mountain Guide has built a route on 32 meters high Majhuwavir.
Mountaineering Instructors Association has also given 6 days of training for rock climbing operations. 12 people including seven local youth and five from Armed Police Force Halesi Gulm have been trained.
Lakpa Sherpa, founding treasurer of Nepal National Mountain Guide and outgoing president of Mountaineering Instructors Association, said that this is a suitable place because people prefer rock climbing in natural rather than artificial ones. Sherpa says that rock climbing is becoming popular as the young generation is getting attracted towards it and it also helps in tourism development.
"The future of rock climbing is good, recently the young generation has started enjoying this sport," Sherpa said, "due to the sport, tourists have also increased." Sherpa said that rock climbing has flourished in Pokhara, Kathmandu and Solukhumbu.
