During the counting of votes for the House of Representatives elections held on Falgun 21, the number of invalid votes in 10 districts of Karnali Province is very high. The direct and proportional invalid votes in 10 districts are 43,500.

In Surkhet, which has two constituencies, 142,000 votes were cast in the proportional system and 139,603 votes were cast in the direct system. 10,407 votes were cast in both the direct and proportional systems. Similarly, Dailekh district also has both constituencies. According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Dailekh, 81,118 votes were cast in the proportional system in Dailekh. Of these, 9,892 votes were invalid.

According to the data provided by the Karnali Province Election Office, the invalid votes in all districts of Karnali, not only in Dailekh and Surkhet, have been invalidated in proportional systems rather than in direct systems. Similarly, in Kalikot district, 3,843 votes were invalidated in both direct and proportional systems.

In Mugu district, 41,350 votes were cast in direct systems, while 42,237 votes were cast in proportional systems. Similarly, out of 22,071 votes, 846 votes were invalidated. In Humla district, 22,351 votes were cast in direct systems, of which 416 were invalidated, while 393 votes were invalidated in proportional systems.

Looking at the 2079 elections, Karnali Province Chief Electoral Officer Lal Bahadur Gurung said that there was an improvement of 4 percent in this year's elections. 'Voters are more likely to be invalidated because they can mark as many symbols as they like. Direct systems are more invalidated than proportional systems,' he said. 'Rather than educating voters, voters were more likely to be careless. There was also less time for voter education in this election.'

The Election Office has stated that the proportional counting of votes in Rukum West and Dolpa is still pending. Out of 59,523 votes cast in direct elections in Rukum West, 3,16 votes have been invalidated. In Jajarkot, 6,444 votes have been invalidated in direct and proportional elections. In Dolpa, 5,13 votes have been invalidated out of 16,019 votes.

In Salyan, 6,480 votes were invalidated, out of 83,692 votes cast in direct and proportional elections. In Jumla, 41,511 votes were cast in proportional elections, out of which 1,332 votes were invalidated. In direct elections, 1,705 votes were invalidated. Chief Election Officer Kul Prasad Pandey said that the invalid votes cast in Dailekh were stamped with double marks.
