In Kathmandu, there are not only fans of Korean movies, Korean hairstyles and Korean fashion, but also connoisseurs of Korean taste. If you don't believe me, go to Two Brothers Kimbap Restaurant in Bhainsepati.

41-year-old Mahesh Tamrakar and his 30-year-old brother Manoj, who live in Dadeldhura's Amargadhi municipality. Mahesh composed music and also worked in NGOs. Brother Manoj was a teacher. Mahesh, who works in a non-governmental organization, was transferred and arrived in Kathmandu around 2072.

at that time in Kathmandu  K-pop and Korean dramas were discussed . But the restaurants that taste Korean and  were not in town . Mahesh, who likes to listen to Korean songs and watch dramas, was aware of this . He said, 'I came up with the idea of opening a restaurant serving Korean food to meet this shortage.' From Korean kimchi to kimbap, Mahesh especially loved kimbap oodhi.

Mahesh's brothers, who were eager to do some new work, got to know at that time, the news that Korean safe dorky had come to Nepal . One day they met with the same Korean chef Dorky and asked, 'We want to open a Korean restaurant and try to do kimbap business.' At first, Chef Dorky advised them that there are not many Korean restaurants in Nepal. But they were not deterred by this. Instead, they trained for 7 months with the same safe. And they who live in Bhainsepati made kimbap every day and tasted it for free. Some liked it, some frowned. Remembering those days, Mahesh said, 'For almost two months, we tasted many people and did it like a survey.'

After two months of training, the Mahesh brothers opened a restaurant with an investment of 12 lakhs. Named, Two Brothers Kimbap Restaurant .

Before the excitement of opening the restaurant started, the lockdown started due to the Corona epidemic. After that they were confused for a few days . Such a big investment and having to pay rent without earning every day . After enduring the pain of the lockdown for three months, they thought that it cannot continue like this forever. Mahesh said, 'It was not decided how long the lockdown would last. So we started home delivery . It made paying the rent a bit easier.'

After the ravages of Covid ended, the restaurant gradually started to pick up pace . Kimbap lovers started coming back. And Mahesh and Manoj brothers never looked back.

Kimbap, a Japanese dish that looks like sushi at first glance, has a different meaning. In Korean, kim means seaweed and bap means rice. Kimbap is prepared after wrapping rice with a layer of sea cucumber and placing meat, tuna fish, kimchi or various green vegetables according to taste. Because the round wrap is cut into the shape of sushi and cooked with soy sauce, many people think it is sushi.

Dui Bhai Kimbap offers 8 different flavors of Kimbap . Veg, cheese, ham, sausage, tuna, crab, spicy chicken and chicken cutlet kimbap are available here .  In addition to

kimbap, tokboki made from rice is also available here . Slightly sweet, spicy and dark flavored, tokboki is popular on Korean roadsides. Tokboki with fish cake, boiled egg, cheese etc. is also preferred by many people. There are also many who come here and taste ramen, kimti and fried rice. Mahesh said, 'To attract the youngsters, we are giving real Korean taste at a bit cheaper.'

The Mahesh brothers bring the necessary materials for the restaurant from Korea. Mahesh said, 'As soon as we know that some friends or relatives are coming from Korea, we order goods from Korea.' In the beginning, Koreans were the customers of this restaurant. But over time, the Nepalese started growing here. Mahesh told, 'In the beginning, 30 percent of the customers who came here were Nepalis and 70 percent were Koreans. But now it's the opposite .' Due to the increase in the number of customers, now they have been able to give employment to 6 people.

The Mahesh brothers who are enjoying the Korean flavor in Kathmandu are not only satisfied with their work but also happy to be able to work together with their family. He, who is planning to open a new outlet of Duibhai Kimbap in Jhamsikhel, said, 'This work is being done as if he got himself a job.'
