Except for one, most of the films in the Nepali film industry were failures. In the year 2024, the film industry gave Nepali filmmakers hope again. Although the start of 2024 was not encouraging for the film industry, a new spring has emerged towards the end of the year.

From 'Mahajatra' directed by Pradeep Bhattarai to 'Poorna Bahadurko Sarangi' directed by Saroj Paudel, the audience is predicting, 'Nepali film is close to hundred crore club' because this film did a business of around 50 crores in Nepal alone. Even outside Nepal, the film set a new business record. 

Starting in 2024, at least 30 Nepali films came to the theaters from the film 'Chitra' directed by Ghanshyam Lamichhane to the film 'Devvani' directed by Babu Balami. The year 2024 has raised a lot of hopes at the box office, where only the sequels of the hit films and the films of a few popular banners were holding the top spot in the previous year.

'Mahajatra' directed by Pradeep Bhattarai was awaited even before its release because of its successful 'Jatra' sequel. It was successful. But some such films also came, which were not seen with much importance in the beginning, they created a stir in the film industry by achieving unexpected success this time. 

Even when most of the films were floundering even when the films of the banner's films or "stars" were kept by experienced and known directors and heroes, a film came in Baisakh, "Boksi Ko Ghar". The director was Sulakshan Bharti, who made his first foray into films from Rangkarma. The film, which had a male lead, patted the shoulders of heroine Keki Adhikari. The business of the

film failed many expectations. Ekli Keki gave a swift blow to the belief that a film cannot run without a hero. After that, most of the films did good business. From 'Pujaar Sarki', 'Farki Farki', 'Gharzwain', 'Mansara', Degree Maila', 'Gaon Indi Bato', 'Khusma' to 'Sambala', none of the films disappointed the producer. Some secured investments while many did good business.

Since Dasain, 'Behuli From Meghauli', 'Zwaaysaab', 'Chakka Panja 5' and '12 Villages' have seen high business. Another young director Saroj Paudel directed 'Poorna Bahadur Ko Sarangi' not only set a record in the business but also set a new standard in the film industry. The film also showed that a film can run without a 'hero'. Its lead actor Vijay Baral made most of the audience cry by acting as a character actor in the film. 

was a recent genre in Nepali films - comedy. A comment was made that films of other genres than comedy are not allowed. However, this year has succeeded in breaking that comment. Because for a long time there was no action-oriented film in Nepal. But '12 Village' surpassed the 'Chakka Panja' series which was ruling the box office in business. Many people thought, 'Now only action-oriented films are shown in Nepal.' But the film 'Poorna Bahadur Ko Sarangi', which is based on a social story, surprised the audience and analysts.

From the film 'Boksi Ko Ghar' based on 'Dark Story' to the original story films 'Gharzwain', 'Gaon Indi Bato Samk' were commercially successful. However, the film 'The Red Suitcase', which had a good presence at international festivals, was not a commercial success.

 But still many films could not get success. In which Deepak Shrestha's 'Parkhi Basen Teke', released at the beginning of 2024, flopped. After that, the fate of Mao Zedong's 'Dayarani' and Simos Sunuvar's 'Hattichap' remained the same. While 'Zigri' directed by Akash Magar and 'Gorkha Warrior' directed by Milan Chams were not able to heat up the box office much, the action film 'Agastya' directed by Saurabh Chaudhary showed some hope.

Then again 'Upahar' directed by Gyanendra Ojha, 'Rangeli' directed by Arjun Subedi, 'Kandetaar' directed by Naval Khadka did not give any significant achievement to the indigenous film sector except for increasing the number of films. Not only 'Badri Bahadur' directed by Sovit Basnet turned out to be brave at the box office. Instead, Rambabu Gurung's 'Degree Maila' made a decent appearance in business and reviews.

While 'Pharki Pharki' is doing the business of 'Avob Average', Ghanshyam Lamichhane's 'London to Paris' has once again raised the flag of failure. Instead, Anil Magar's directorial debut 'Gharzwai' garnered praise. 'Danvi' directed by Rupesh Tamang, 'Modibeni' directed by Shankar Koirala, 'Ravayan' directed by Sudarshan Thapa appeared pale in business. While Akash Baral and Sajan Kafle's directorial debut 'Behuli From Meghauli' was doing well in the theaters, its producer Nischal Basnet expressed his disagreement with the exhibitor's behavior. However, the film did not bring him to a loss. 

Dasain date was seen as the most clash of the year. The Dasain festival, which is usually dominated by the 'Chakkapanja' series, was given a good challenge by Vasant Niraula's directorial 'Jwainsaab' and Viraj Bhatt's '12 Village'. Even though the three films clashed, there was no loss to any producer in terms of business. On the other hand, 'Ankha' directed by John Yonjan remained in the theaters, while 'Sano Sansar' directed by Siddharth Pudasaini failed to get audiences even after releasing it twice.
