”Overall, the budget has been middle-class-centric. There are no programs targeted at the lower classes,” Pun said. ”No attention has been paid to laborers, farmers, unemployed youth, and squatters.”

Former Finance Minister and NCP leader Barshaman Pun has said that the upcoming budget has neglected the lower class. Pun, who is the only Finance Minister in the current parliament, commented to the media after the budget was made public that there are no promising programs for farmers, laborers, young people, lower class and squatters in the budget.
‘Overall, the budget has been middle class-centric. There are no programs targeted at the lower class,’ Pun said, ‘Nothing has been addressed for laborers, farmers, unemployed young people and squatters. There are no programs to create employment or create self-employment. It seems like they are trying to evade the responsibility of providing employment by saying that all the responsibility lies with the private sector.’
He also criticized the government for privatizing profitable public enterprises. "Selling shares of companies that are running at a profit is pushing them towards privatization, which is not right," Pun said.
Earlier, RSP leaders said that the old parties sank the country by taking loans, but Pun said that the current budget was brought to raise resources from foreign loans.
