The previous big projects of Lumbini have continued in the budget of the next financial year released by the federal government on Tuesday. Some new and ambitious projects have been launched.
The budget for the year 2081/82 announced by Finance Minister Barshman Pun has placed Butwal as the economic center of Lumbini Province at the center. From developing Lumbini as a birthing center, the 'Bharatpur-Butwal-Pokhara-Mugling-Bharatpur' economic triangle project has been taken forward. The budget also mentions that the construction of the 400 KV international transmission line from Butwal to Gorakhpur and the operation of an information technology park with infrastructure such as high-speed internet and electricity security in Butwal will be carried forward.
The budget has been allocated for the construction of signature bridge in Tinau River. From the construction of medical college in Butwal, the budget has been allocated for the upgrading of Wadachaur in Rolpa, Tori village in Dang and the airport in Nepalgunj. A pond with a reservoir is going to be constructed on the hill of Kanke Deurali in Gulmi.
Former finance minister Bishnu Paudel has started big and long-term projects focused on Butwal and has got enough budget for the coming year. It is mentioned that the construction of Butwal Medical College, which was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Chait 8, 2075, to be built at Tilottama in Rupandehi, will also proceed next year.

Hari Prasad Aryal, president of Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that although the big plans for the development of some economic sectors that the government has focused on Butwal seem very attractive and beautiful in words, they are ambitious in implementation. "For a long time, we have been hearing many beautiful words that are not implemented every year, so we cannot say whether there will be real change until we go into implementation and work at a fast pace," he said.
The government has mentioned in the budget to start the construction work of Motipur industrial area in Ruppandehi this year as well. However, the construction work has been stalled for three years due to the land dispute. Likewise, the Kaligandaki-Tinau multi-purpose inter-watershed water diversion project centered on Butwal is also stalled. The government has also mentioned that it will study the feasibility and implement it in the coming year. Integrated check post at Bhairahawa, Butwal Gorusinge road extension, Butwal Bhairahawa Kapilvastu triangle tourism development etc. have also been advanced in the budget.
