The election atmosphere is intensifying in the district as candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21 have begun to be finalized.
In Ramechhap, Madhav Dhungel from UML and Dr. Krishnahari Budhathoki from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have been nominated. The Congress is preparing to finalize the candidates by Monday evening.
The UML Central Secretariat meeting held on Saturday nominated Dhungel as the candidate. Dhungel, who is also a UML central member and Ramechhap district in-charge, has been nominated as the candidate for the House of Representatives for the first time by the party.
The Central Secretariat finally selected Dhungel as the candidate from among eight potential candidates recommended by the District Committee and Bagmati Province Committee.
Reacting after becoming a candidate, Dhungel said that he established himself in politics through struggle and continuity. ‘Those who understand my story of suffering and struggle know it well,’ he said, ‘I am a villager who rose from the dirt.’ I can work as a bridge connecting experience and energy of the new generation.'
Congress and NCP to finalize by tomorrow
Meanwhile, the Congress has stated that it will finalize the House of Representatives candidate in Ramechhap by Monday evening. According to Congress Ramechhap Vice President Lekh Bahadur Karki, the final decision is yet to come from the center.
There is talk that one of the Congress district president Purna Bahadur Tamang (Kancharam), leaders Bharat Chaulagain, Yubaraj Bhattarai and Gelje Sherpa will get the ticket. The Congress district committee has already recommended the names of 10 people to the center directly.
Similarly, the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) is also going to finalize the candidate by Monday. According to NCP Ramechhap leader Taranarayan Shrestha, the party has taken the candidate selection process to the final stage. Shrestha, who is also a member of the party's Bagmati Province Secretariat and a province MP, said, 'The candidate has not been finalized yet. It is expected to be finalized by this evening or tomorrow morning.'
There is talk within the party that one of Shyam Kumar Shrestha and Hom Bahadur Budhathoki will get the ticket. Shrestha is the leader of the then Maoist Center, while Budhathoki is the leader of the former Unified Socialist Party.
Budhathoki is the candidate from the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP)
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) has nominated Krishnahari Budhathoki, who holds a PhD in economics, as the candidate for the House of Representatives from Ramechhap. According to RSWP District Vice President Mohan Karki, Budhathoki has been selected on the basis of his high educational qualifications and long professional experience.
Dr. Budhathoki has more than 20 years of work experience in the banking and financial sector. He has also been involved in research-based work to identify and solve problems in the financial sector.
For the past 10 years, he has been active in promoting entrepreneurship, production growth, marketing, and skill-based education for the prosperity of the district through the 'Ramechhap Vikas Bhasha' program.
