Clearing of the landslide that occurred yesterday near the Tuin river on the Narayangadh-Muglin road has started from 6 am today, Wednesday. But due to the large amount of landslide, it cannot be cleared today and if everything is normal, there is a possibility that the road will be opened tomorrow Thursday afternoon only, according to the Divisional Road Office of Bharatpur.
The Chitwan District Administration Office has warned not to travel through the Narayangadh-Muglin road and has also announced alternative routes yesterday evening. Engineer Krishna Acharya, information officer of the
office, said that machines have started working on both sides of the landslide. Due to the landslide, a mountain of stones and rocks has formed on the road. Engineer Acharya informed that about 12,000 to 14,000 cubic meters of stone and clay were piled up on the road. This is a very large quantity.
Even though it doesn't look like a big landslide will fall from above, the remaining stones are falling from time to time, so the machine operators are also avoiding the landslide. The Divisional Road Office has also appealed not to keep private vehicles on the road.
The Narayangadh-Muglin road, which was blocked after a landslide last Friday evening, was opened one way from Sunday afternoon after 45 hours. Although it was opened in both directions from Tuesday afternoon, it was going to be closed after the stones did not stop falling.
Before the impact of last Friday's landslide could not be removed properly, another big landslide occurred in the same Tuin river around 5 pm on Tuesday. The Narayangadh-Muglin road is the main road connecting the federal capital Kathmandu and the tourist city of Pokhara with East West Mahendra Highway. More than 10,000 vehicles pass through this road every day.
Due to the advent of Dasai, more vehicles have been plying the roads due to people going out of Kathmandu Valley. At the same time, the road was closed for a long time due to the landslide and the passengers were inconvenienced.
