Sankranti Mani Danda Hai Pari June hides. In the middle of the darkness, a gun barked at Mahadev Than. These are the lyrics of a popular song that reminds of the repression and massacres by the panchayat administration in Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-4 Piskar.
41 years ago, the late Janwadi singer JB Tuhure sang this song passionately while remembering the martyrs . The youth who were born at that time and the youth of that time have now become old when they reached the republic through panchayat, multi-party system. But the village of Piskar is still living in remote and difficult conditions and the eyes, suffering and condition of the martyrs' families are still painful.
69-year-old Dil Bahadur of Tripurasundari-3 Dhuskun Phaparchaur Salle, son of martyr Ile Thami, cannot contain himself even now when he remembers the news of his father's death in Jatra. "My father killed himself by taking a bullet for the people, the government even announced it, but now we feel as if the government is continuously insulting the martyr's family." Because of this incident, many leaders became big people, what did we get? What did the village get?, Thami asked.
Sahid son Thami, Mrs. Dillimaya couple who are facing extreme financial shortage depending on small Taltu house, farming, go to work to make a living . Even if we get food from farming for a few months, we have to deliver food to the martyr's family for the remaining seven months. He lamented that no leader even came to ask Sukhdhukh at the time of calling to Piskar and asking for votes in the elections.
"In the election, the leaders come with laskars saying that the martyr family should vote, in some programs they cover the martyr family and put them in the corner, that's all our work," he said.
2040 Piskar massacre took place in the night before Maghe Sankranti. 55-year-old Tilak Bahadur Thami, a resident of Sahidbhoomi, said that he received the news that his relative Veere Thami along with his father had died in the jatra and brought him home for cremation.
Some time after the incident, the relatives family Ile and Bir Bahadur Thami were declared martyrs by the government. Two names were added to Shaheed, but the Shaheed family did not get anything like that. Neither the village has got anything, if the martyr's grandson goes abroad, we have made it like a war due to lack of protection for the martyr's children,'' he said . He said that he gave two years of rice and five thousand rupees in cash.
Now 44-year-old Sancha Bahadur Thami of Tripurasundari-3 Baghbhairav, a son of Shaheed Bir Bahadur, lives with his family in the village. Motivated by the support of his martyred father, he joined the Maoist people's war for a change. Now, Thami's family, who is making a living from farming, is living a difficult life like the whole village.
Shanta Bahadur Thami of Piskar village, the son of a martyr, has not forgotten that day even though he is 78 years old. He feels sad when he remembers the moment that happened 41 years ago in front of him. Every year, a memorial meeting is being held in the name of two martyrs who were murdered. Remembering those moments, the family of martyrs is still shocked. Piskar residents cannot sleep remembering the incident.
That event of the year 2040 has remained an indelible mark on the psyche of the villagers. The elderly people here are worried that the same thing will happen again. A fair was held in the village on 30th January 2040. There were programs of playing plays, singing songs and meetings. When it was evening, the skirmishes started .
"Even in the previous years, there was a fair, when the play was going on, there was a clash, shots were fired, there were riots," says Mangalman Thami, a 78-year-old local, "There was no road in the village." As there was no electric light, they used minetool (petromax) to light the cultural program.' According to him, two of the three petromaxes were pelted with stones and burst into flames, and the participants of the jatra dispersed to save their lives and started running. At that time, no one knew how many people were shot, what happened to whom.
According to the old leader of UML, Amrit Kumar Bohra, on January 1st, in the evening in Piskar, the then CPN-ML held a cultural program at this place. In which there was a program to spread awareness about the exploitation by the then panchayat government and the rights that the people should have. At that time Male was underground . The price of the heads of Male leaders and leaders was set at 50,000 to 500,000. The songs, poems, plays and others presented in the
program protested the Panchayat period. There was repression from the government side to cancel the program . The same oppression took away the happiness of the local people, local Ile and Bir Bahadur Thami lost their lives in the oppression and many were injured. After his own brother lost his life in this incident, every push still hurts the heart of Piskarbasi . At that time, the police took away many villagers. When the Nepalese army and police went to the houses and started arresting the people participating in the Jatra, that incident spread tragedy to everyone. Ramsharan Bohra, 59 years old from Tripurasundari-6 Tekanpur, said that only the elderly and women were left in the village.

"At that time, it seems like yesterday that our elder father Jagat Bahadur was brought home with a bullet in his arm, bleeding, and 15 members of our family, including him, who were injured, were taken to jail," Bohra said. The local people including the leader of Male suffered severe torture of Jailnel . Due to accusations against the state, most of them fled their homes and the village became empty.
The locals were outraged by the torture they received with boots and batons for no reason . Five days before this incident, Male leaders Amrit Kumar Bohra, Madhav Paudel, Bhola Bohra, Savitri Bohra had reached Piskar. Apart from Sabitri Bohra, they returned to Kathmandu after arranging the program. However, the police attacked based on information that the party's top leadership would participate in the event.
At that time, former ministers Arun Nepal, Saresh Nepal, Meghnath Paudel, Chhatra Bahadur Bohra, Man Bahadur Thami, Bhola Bohra were jailed. After this incident, there was a nation-wide protest and human rights organizations were mobilized with the conclusion that human rights had been violated if the counter-plans were put forward. Old leaders say that it caused problems to the palace after it was internationalized and even those who are considered close to the king opposed this incident.
Due to this struggle, the government was forced to lift the blockade imposed on the Piskar area and ease the repression. A multi-party democracy was established in the country within 6 years. Locals have been accusing the former president of RPP and former minister Pashupatishamsher Rana and then Panch Devijung Pandey of Piskar for instigating the Piskar massacre. The upper and lower levels do not want to speak clearly about this .
Dilapidated Martyr's Land, Abandoned Martyr's Park
Many leaders and political figures emerged regarding the incident of Piskar. Piskar became the underground shelter of the then president of UML, Jhalnath Khanal, vice president Ashtalakshmi Shakya and other famous leaders. From this incident, Madhav Paudel rose, Amritkumar Bohra rose to the level of parliamentarian, minister and national level. But Piskar is the same . Bhaktadhawaj Bohra, President of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality, said that the local people who fought for democracy now see the republic and the rural municipality is working for development.
Sahidbhoomi : Piskar Village
The Martyrdom Piskar, which is discussed in politics and speech, is living in the background of about 41 years ago . The remote Piskar, which is connected by a dirt road, is gradually shrinking. However, a decade and a half after the opening of the road, the construction of the 17 and a half kilometer long Bahrbise-Sunkosi-Dhuskun-Piskar road was started.
According to Charikot Road Division, Kancharam Construction was entrusted with road upgrading and black paper for 394 million. According to the contract, the work was to be completed in 2 years and 6 months. Although the work started in 077, this work has not been completed yet.
Shahid Gate and Salik have been built in memory of martyrs. However, the martyr's body has been kept inside the building. Shaheed Park under construction for two years has been stalled . There is no martyr's memorial in Shaheed Park. Shaheed Park is gradually turning into ruins due to the growth of weeds. Its work was started with a budget of nearly 1.5 million from the state government and local level. According to the municipality, there is no information about who got the responsibility of this and how much budget it has been left behind.
