Another Nepali student at the Kaling Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Orissa, India, has been found dead in the university's dormitory. Citing the university administration, the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi has confirmed the incident.
A student from Birganj was found dead in her room on the fourth floor of KIIT hostel 'Queen's Castle-4' (QC-4) on Thursday evening. According to the information provided by the university to the Nepali embassy, the police have taken control of the incident site.
"During a routine check on Thursday around 7:30 a.m., when she did not open the door, she was found dead," SSP Sanjeev Sharma of Nepal Police working at the Nepali Embassy told Kantipur. Efforts are being made to understand more.
Similarly, according to Surendra Thapa, deputy head of the mission working at the embassy, the embassy is in constant contact with the Odisha government as well as the police and is showing interest in the incident. "Now we have received information that the body of the Nepali student has been taken to AIIMS Hospital in Bhubaneswar for post-mortem," he told Kantipur, "We are in constant contact with the university administration as well as the local police and high officials of the state government." As it is summer vacation, most of the students have gone home. The examination of first year students is going on. The deceased is also a BTech first year student. Prakriti Lamsal of Rupandehi was also found dead in the same dormitory of KIIT on February 4. The student said that Lamsal was also found dead in a room on the fourth floor of QC-4.
