The election to be held on Tuesday for the election of the 47th President of the United States is expected to be a fierce battle in history. In the latest election survey, the candidate of the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris, has been seen before the candidate of the Republican Party, Donald Trump.

Harris, who is in the race to become America's first female president, has received the support of 48 percent of voters. Recent polls show Trump with 47 percent of voters. 5 percent of voters are still undecided. 

The US presidential election is based on the Electoral College. For the 50 US states, the Electoral College vote is determined by population. At least 270 of the total 538 electoral votes are needed to be elected president.

535 in 50 states and 3 electoral votes for the federal capital 'District of Columbia'. Most of the 50 states traditionally have a single party win presidential elections. Such states are known as 'Blue' and 'Red' states . States in favor of the Democratic party candidate are called 'blue' states and states in favor of the Republican candidate are called 'red' states.

But in every election, it is not clear which candidate will win in some states only based on the polls. Such states that determine the outcome of the overall election are called 'battleground states' or 'swing states'. 

In this year's election, 7 states where there is a fierce competition between Harris and Trump have been considered as 'battleground states'. The list includes Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin and Nevada . 

Harris is seen to bring 226 electoral votes, including 54 in California, 28 in New York and 19 in the state of Illinois. He needs at least 44 more electoral votes to be elected president. 

Similarly, polls show that Trump will get at least 219 electoral votes, including 40 in Texas, 30 in Florida and 17 in Ohio. Based on this, Trump needs 51 more electoral votes to be elected president.
