Churchill was the first person to receive honorary US citizenship. The US has granted honorary citizenship to only eight people so far. Known as an inspirational statesman, writer and orator, Churchill was famous around the world for his amazing ability to influence people and his strategic acumen.
Churchill was born on November 30, 1874 in Oxfordshire, England, and was the Prime Minister of Britain twice. He was Prime Minister of Britain for the first time during the Second World War from 1940 to 1945 and for the second time from 1951 to 1955.
Churchill, who entered the British military service in 1895, also became famous for his reports on the war. Churchill died of a stroke on January 24, 1965 at his residence in London, England.
