There is no accurate data on how many couples in Nepal have childless problems.
The problem of childlessness is increasing all over the world, senior gynecologist and obstetrician Dr. Bhola Rizal said. In the health round table program organized by Kantipur daily, he said that there are more and more problems in those who go for foreign employment at a young age and want children after returning.
In his experience, Dr. has shown that the rate of childlessness may be increasing along with unhealthy diet and changing lifestyle. Rizal claims. He said that even now, when a married couple does not have children, the woman is considered to be the main factor, but the man is equally responsible for it. 85% out of 100 people don't have any problem giving birth. In 15 percent of the cases, the problem is caused by either a woman or a man, but most of them get better after normal treatment,' he said, 'only 2-3 percent need in vitro fertilization (IVF).' Swasti Sharma says. There is no accurate data on how many couples in Nepal have childless problems. But the way in which couples with problems are coming for treatment indicates that the number is increasing," she said, "many problems can be solved by general counseling or intrauterine insemination (IUE). IVF is the last resort.
Scientific studies have confirmed that the ability to bear children decreases with increasing age in both women and men. Swasti said. If someone wants to have children after 35 years, it may not be easy for everyone. In such a case, it will be easier if you consult with experts and adopt some measures,' she said. But there is also a solution.'
According to him, it is known from a simple test which one of the childless couples has a problem, so if it is detected and treated in time, the loss of both money and time can be avoided. We will find out where the problem is by doing some hormone tests and ultrasound. After that, we suggest the corresponding treatment method,' she said.
She also said that the IVF service started in Nepal has helped many childless couples to have children. "Worldwide, the rate of getting a child from IVF and taking it home is 35 to 40 percent". That rate is also being achieved in Nepal,' she said, 'many have achieved child happiness through this service.' According to him, the IVF method used in Nepal cannot be evaluated less than the method used in any developed country in the world.
Generally speaking, in IVF, sperm from a man and an egg from a woman are obtained and fertilized in the laboratory, and only if it is fully determined and becomes an embryo, it is taken again and placed in the woman's uterus . Then the process of baby sitting in the uterus starts . "We look at the quality of both sperm and eggs during IVF treatment. Because of that, the wish of the couple to have a healthy child is fulfilled,' she said.
Director of Charity Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Dr. Shri Prasad Adhikari said. "We are still failing to provide services to those who are childless due to common problems at the place where they need to be served." If that arrangement is arranged at the government level, many people could get easy service,' he said, 'We have also started training to make that easy. It will be easier if the Ministry of Health also supports it.'
maternity home has also started IUI and IVF services for the treatment of childless couples who wish to have children, but it is very expensive to have to come from outside the capital and get treatment here, he mentioned. Even if you don't have to stay in the hospital for IUI, you should follow up. After a couple of days down, you may have to wait a few weeks again . As a result, even the treatment with little money becomes more expensive," he said, "Due to technical reasons, IVF cannot be started in many places for the time being, but IUI can be done. It is necessary to take initiative for that.'
When asked whether it is possible to get a child of a certain gender through the IVF method, Embryologist Preeti Bisht said that it is not completely impossible but it is illegal. He says that among the various challenges of IVF, many couples are confused by the hope of choosing the sex. "We only do genetic tests to find out whether the child is healthy or not." It doesn't mean you don't know the gender by doing that. But that is an illegal subject," she said. "If someone does a subject prohibited by the law, it becomes a crime. No ethical person would do that . It is appropriate not to rely on such things.'
IVF is a very technical subject, although it is somewhat more expensive than other treatment methods, there are many negative comments about it. The logic of Swastika is . Fertilizing a man's sperm and a woman's egg in a laboratory is not as easy as it sounds. Things like air, heat, light and humidity also have a lot of effect. "There is a lack of technical and skilled experts here," she said. Prakash Budhathoki said. "With a limited budget, it is difficult to prioritize whether we should think about saving people's lives or helping them have children," he said. Budhathoki said . The IVF center has been kept in a specialized service by both the Public Health Act and the regulations. Therefore, no such center can be operated without approval from the Ministry of Health. If it is found to be operating, action will be taken.'
Senior physician Dr. Dr. Bhola Rizal said. I am ready to support what can be done to train the doctors working in the district to treat childlessness. Our association will also be prepared,' he said, 'for that, government institutions like the Ministry of Health and Maternity Home should play a leading role.'
