More than 9,000 votes were invalidated in the House of Representatives elections held in Baitadi on Falgun 21. According to the final results of the counting of votes on Sunday for the direct route and Tuesday for the proportional route, 9,239 votes were invalidated, both direct and proportional, according to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
According to the information provided by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, out of 72,843 votes cast in the direct route, 5,113 votes were invalidated and out of 72,308 votes cast in the proportional route, 4,126 votes were invalidated.
The Election Office had conducted a voter education program in all 84 wards of the district from Falgun 3 to 17 to prevent votes from being invalidated. Naresh Dayal, Information Officer at the Election Office, Baitadi, said that the number of invalid votes has not decreased as expected.
In the 2079 BS election for the House of Representatives, 4,962 votes were invalidated out of 77,460 votes cast directly under the House of Representatives. This is more votes invalidated in this election than in the last election.
