After the clash between the prisoners inside the Kailali prison, the situation became uncontrollable and the prison administration and security agencies could not get any information about the condition of the prisoners.
A large number of Armed Police and Nepal Police and a team from the National Human Rights Commission Far Paschim entered the detention center on Sunday evening and monitored their condition. Prior to this, the prisoners had not allowed any agency to enter.
National Human Rights Commission director Prakash Dutta Bhatt, who returned from monitoring, said that the condition of the prisoners inside the prison is normal. They did a 'head count' of the prisoners on the third day of the incident. In general, there is a rule that the prison administration has to count the prisoners every evening.
"Out of a total of 700 prisoners on the day of the incident, 398 are in the 'A' block, 196 are in the 'B' block and 57 are in the women's block," Director Bhatt said.
