Although primarily a central midfielder, 25-year-old Enzo Fernandez has been able to write his name on the list of the best players in the world because he can also play in the defensive and attacking midfield roles. A product of the River Plate academy, he played for Benfica in Portugal and currently plays for Chelsea in England. He is playing in his second consecutive World Cup. He made his debut for the Argentine national team in September 2022, playing for Honduras.

Since then, he has scored six goals in 43 matches. He was in the team when Argentina last won the World Cup four years ago. He entered the field in the second half of the second group stage match against Mexico, when he was 21 years old and became Argentina's second youngest player to score in a World Cup, after Lionel Messi.
