The government has allocated a budget of Rs 4.3 billion for the sports sector in the coming fiscal year. Presenting the budget for the coming fiscal year in a joint meeting of the Federal Parliament, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle said that sports infrastructure will be linked to youth development and the local economy.
He said that 10 football stadiums with a capacity of at least 8,000 spectators will be upgraded with floodlights within the next three years. Similarly, Finance Minister Wagle said that modern cricket stadiums will be built in eight major cities within five years.
Finance Minister Wagle has announced that indoor multi-purpose stadiums with a capacity of at least 2,000 will be built in Fapla of Biratnagar, Lahan, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal, Surkhet and Dhangadhi within the next 3 years.
