Kathmandu Gorkhas registered their second win in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket. Kathmandu defeated Lumbini Lions by 22 runs on Tuesday.

Gorkhaz, who were invited to bat after losing the toss, scored 157 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs at the Tribhuvan University Cricket International Stadium, Kirtipur. In reply, Lumbini was all out for 135 runs in 19.1 overs.

Milind Kumar and Gerhard Erasmus took 2 wickets each from Kathmandu. Milindu gave away 18 runs in 4 overs and Erasmus gave away 27 runs in 4 overs. Karan, Shahab Alam and Rashid and Santosh Yadav took 1 wicket each.

Openers Sandeep Jora and D'RC shot for 7 and 22 runs in 11 balls, hitting 3 fours and 1 six. Milind dismissed both of them. Erasmus dismissed captain Rohit Poudel for 11 runs. Gulbadin Naib was also dismissed for 11 runs by Shahab Alam.

Dilip Nath scored 25 runs. He hit 1 four and a six in 33 balls. Sher Malla scored 27 runs in 18 balls. He hit 3 consecutive sixes off Shahab. JJ Smit 8, Sumit Maharjan 0, Ruben Trumpelman 3 and Abhishek Gautam 4 were out. Tilak Bhandari remained unbeaten on 6 runs.

Earlier, Karan, who came to bat lower in the order, had scored the highest unbeaten 34 runs off 11 balls. He hit 1 four and 4 sixes. He hit 4 sixes and 1 four off Namibian fast bowler Trumpelman in the 19th over. Gorkhaz had scored 31 runs in that over.

Gorkhaz did not start well. Ben Charlesworth was bowled by Sher in the first over. Rashid Khan, who was sent to the third position, scored 14 runs with 2 fours in 10 balls. Opener Akash Tripathi scored 32 runs with 2 fours in 36 balls.

Milind scored 17 runs with 1 four in 20 balls, John Simpson scored 7 runs with 3 sixes in 16 balls, Erasmus scored 17 runs with 2 fours in 15 balls, Adil Alam Ansari scored 4 runs in 7 balls. Shahab remained unbeaten on 1 run.

Sher, captain Rohit, Naib and Trumpman took 2 wickets each from Lumbini. Rohit scored 9 runs in 1 over, Sher scored 33 runs in 4 overs, Naib scored 20 runs in 3 overs and Trumpman scored 43 runs in 4 overs.
