Lumbini in the hope of forgetting the past

What you should know

Lumbini Lions is a team that has nothing to be ashamed of in the past. Led by Nepali national team captain Rohit Poudel, Lumbini finished last last season, losing six out of seven games.

Lumbini, who lost the first three matches, defeated Chitwan Rhinos by 33 runs in the fourth match. This was the only match the team won last season. Lumbini does not want to relive all these dark memories.

Lumbini was forced to suffer one defeat after another after being betrayed by foreign players. The team was particularly weak in bowling. That is why the team released Surya Tamang, Ashutosh Ghirohiya, and Ajun Saud, who were brought in at a high cost, and went to the mini auction with a big budget. Wicketkeeper/batter Dilip Nath and Sher Malla were bought from the mini auction.

Rohit has the challenge of applying the leadership skills shown by the national team in the franchise competition as well. Despite his batting, Lumbini could not achieve results in the first season. Vice-captain Sandeep Jora has been in high spirits since scoring 63 runs in a Twenty20 International against the West Indies two months ago. He was the highest run-scorer in Hong Kong International Sixes, captaining Nepal.

The arrival of Sher Malla will give Lumbini great hope in spin bowling. Dilip will have to improve his performance in batting as well as wicketkeeping. The team has already suffered a big blow before the NPL due to the injury of all-rounder Vivek Yadav. Lumbini has included Sumit Maharjan in the team in place of Vivek. Sumit played for Kathmandu Gorkhas last year. Lumbini has high hopes from D'Arcy Short, Thomas Draka, Gulbadin Naib, JJ Schmidt, Ruben Trumpelman.

Who is in the team ?

Rohit Paudel (captain), Sandeep Zora, Dilip Nath, Sher Mall, Durgesh Gupta, Sumit Maharjan, Tilakraj Bhandari, Abhishek Gautam, Vishal Patel, Dinesh Adhikari, D'Arcy Short, Thomas Draka, Gulbuddin Naib, JJ Schmidt, Ruben Trumpelmen.
