Karnali Yaks have strengthened their chances of reaching the playoffs of Nepal Premier League (NPL) by winning their fourth game in a row. On the contrary, after Chitwan Rhinos lost in a match that was considered decisive, the team's chances of reaching the next stage are in doubt.

Karnali defeated Lumbini Lions by 5 runs in an exciting match on Friday. A loss would weaken Karnali's playoff position. Lumbini needed 9 runs in the last over to win. However, after Nandan Yadav scored a dramatic victory by spending only 3 runs, Karnali has almost secured the next stage.

After losing the first two games, Karnali has reached the playoffs by winning four games in a row. Lumbini's disappointing journey ended with another defeat. Having already lost 5 out of 6 games, the national team captain Rohit Paudel's team, Lumbini, is sure to be at the bottom with 2 points.

After winning over Lumbini, Karnali has moved up to third place. Janakpur Bolts are at the top with 10 points. Sudurpaschim Royals and Karnali are second and third respectively with 8 points. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs.

After scoring 47 runs in the first 10.1 overs, Karnali, who lost Dev Khanal (3), Babar Hayat (20), Gulshan Jha (8) and Chadwick Walton (13), was once again rescued by Australian all-rounder William Bosisto. Having taken 6 wickets in the previous match, he scored 44 runs with 3 fours and 3 sixes in 30 balls and performed as the player of the match for the third consecutive match.

He shared a partnership of 72 runs with Arjun Gharti for the fifth wicket. Arjun scored 25 runs off 25 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Captain Sompal Kami was dismissed for 7 off 3 balls and Nandan Yadav for 0. In the last match, Lumbini gave a chance to the new player. Among them, Vikas Agri took 3 with 14 runs in 2 overs, Tilak Bhandari took 2 with 23 runs in 4 overs and captain Rohit Paudel, Saad Bin Zafar and Ramon Simmonds took 1 wicket each.

In reply, Lumbini lost 7 wickets and made only 123 runs. Tom Moores top scored with 36 runs. Nandan bowled him in the 18th over after hitting 4 fours and 1 six in 35 balls. Sandeep Zora scored 24 runs off 21 balls with 2 sixes. Ashutosh Ghirohia was out for 16, Arjun Saud 13, Rohit 10, Ben Cutting 1, Jaffer 16 runs. From Karnali, Jason Maqsood took 2 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs and Sompal, Nandan, Bipin Sharma and Bosisto took 1 wicket each. Karnali will now secure a place in the playoffs if they defeat Sudur.
