NPL: Lumbini's hope in Rohit's innings

Lumbini Lions, who are looking for their first win after captain Rohit Paudel played another good innings, have given a target of 168 runs to Chitwan Rhinos in Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket. After Chitwan won the toss at the Trivi Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Tuesday, Lumbini, who were called to bat, lost 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and scored 167 runs.

After Rohit, the highest run scorer of the tournament, scored 80 runs off 57 balls, Lumbini, who had a weak start, managed to give a challenging score. He hit 6 fours and 5 sixes and shared 114 runs in 70 balls with former Canadian captain Saad Bin Zafar for the fifth wicket.

Rohit was dismissed in the third ball of the last 20th over. Sandeep Zora, who came next, hit a four on the first ball but was beaten on the next two balls. Jaffer, who was run out in the last over of the innings, played 35 balls and scored 52 runs with 4 fours and 1 six.

Region Dhakal gave Chitwan a sensational start. In the second over of the match and in his first over, Devrehate fast bowler he bowled Ashutosh Ghirohia for 1 and Unmukt Chand for zero. Arjun Saud was out for 15 off 12 balls and Tom Moores for 10 runs off 5 balls.

Reason spent 29 runs in 4 overs and took 3 wickets. Captain Kushal Malla scored 42 runs in 4 overs and Ranjit Kumar took 1 wicket each with 26 runs in 4 overs. Pakistan's veteran fast bowler Sohail Tanveer could not take any wicket despite spending only 27 runs in 4 overs.

Lumbini, under the leadership of Rohit, the captain of the Nepali national team, is almost out of the possibility of reaching the playoffs after losing the first four games. Chitwan's chances of reaching the playoffs will be strong if they win over Lumbini. Chitwan has won 3 out of 4 matches.

Two players have been changed in Chitwan's team. Deepak Bohra has been replaced by Nar Bahadur Sharkey and opener Hasan Isakhil has been replaced by Luke Benkenstein. This is the first match in the tournament of Nar Bahadur, who was replaced by fast bowling all-rounder Kamalsingh Airi, who has played for the national team, after he was injured.

When Chitwan won by 33 runs over Sudurpaschim Royals, Isakhil scored 65 runs from 52 balls hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes. Lumbini Lions has replaced Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting with Indian batsman Unmukt Chand, who is playing in America.
