Kathmandu Gurkhaz defeated Karnali Yaks by 3 wickets in Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket on Wednesday after Karan KC played a captaincy innings and Sumit Maharjan played a clean innings. Gurkhaz completed the target of 150 runs with 3 balls to spare.

At the time when the score was equal, Sumit hit a boundary and won Gurkhaz. He played 37 balls and scored 40 unbeaten runs by hitting 3 fours and 1 six. Karan played 10 balls and hit 2 fours and a six and scored 28 runs. When the team needed 7 runs to win, he reached the last ball of the 19th over to take a catch on the boundary line.

Earlier, after Shikhar Dhawan scored 72 runs off 51 balls, Karnali played the scheduled 20 overs and scored 149 runs losing 5 wickets. He hit 4 fours and 5 sixes. Dhawan completed his half-century in 42 balls by hitting consecutive balls from Karan for a six and a four in the 18th over. Dhawan hit Nathan Souter for consecutive sixes in the first two balls of the 19th over.
